We’ve both had interweaving experiences, gaslit by friends and doctors alike, might think at times we know what’s best, got a confident bird’s eye, but history is done with no one yet--
So when I got an instinct take a second to believe me, my fear is real… and even though there’s no escape at present from the awful pain I’m feeling, just let me feel, ‘cuz fear is real…
I’ve been far too patient for my self-esteem, thinking circumstance will nudge the ones I love in the right direction, but it’s about time I played busybody and spoke up for myself--
‘Cuz I regret the times I fell to deep into someone’s misconceptions, my fear is real… and automatic skepticism is twice as evil as unfounded belief, so let me feel, ‘cuz fear is real…
I’m just tryina make a statement, I’m just like a chunky bracelet, you’re still in the conversation, just learn how not to center yourself, unlearn that your head is a globe, but everybody is permitted to know, wish I didn’t have to use this much patience, but others have had it for me and I hope that it shows…
Everything means a baby pointing at it, I’ll tell you how to live, it means yawning up from the base of the tree, even if you’re like me and prefer the sidewalks of the city…
And even on the worst of days a sweetness will corrupt the throb of your instincts, your breath be plush, I mean your lungs will feel full of cotton in a good way, just like you’d never smoked anything, suspect as much, breath of plush…
Come around we’ll get used to each other, see which bites are most satisfying to take, get the berry and the cream and the crust in the same mouth…
I’m just tryina be impressed, leave a handprint on my velveteen dress, no one ever gets along for long if they can’t intone that something’s wrong, I get tired kinda quick, in the morning I think like my brain is seven layers thick, and my therapy is running kinda long, you gotta spend time with what’s not going so wrong--
So when I really feel it you best believe I’m not just tryina induce it for fun, my fear is real… it comes from a very real place, I’m not just acting out to save face, so let me feel, ‘cuz fear is real…
